William Sparrow clinched the Total Karting Zero Championship in style.
Sparrow won the junior summer series finale at the Mansell Raceway in Devon to finish 52 points clear of runner-up Joel Dixon-Coen.
The 13-year-old, a pupil at Maidstone Grammar School, held a 24-point lead going into the sixth and final meeting but, with double points at stake, there was all to play for.
Sparrow qualified on pole but had to settle for fifth place in a wet opening heat after a spin while leading.
He was fighting Dixon-Coen for the lead in heat two when his rival suffered a major technical fault, handing Sparrow the victory.
The final was a lights-to-flag success for the Marden teenager, holding off pressure from Ellis Garrett.
As well as taking the title, Sparrow also collected the Race with Respect Trophy, as voted for by fellow drivers across all categories.
He said: “Being the very first Junior Total Karting Zero champion is the greatest feeling and winning the Race with Respect Trophy is incredibly special and means so much to me.”
Sparrow would like to thank sponsors The Pixel Farm for their support.
