The Kent FA are reducing their staff levels for the next two months.
As from 5pm today (Friday) the county association - the governing body of football in Kent - have put 14 staff members on furloughed leave until Sunday, May 31.
The decision was taken at an emergency Kent FA board meeting held on Wednesday.
Those staff remaining include chief exec Darryl Haden, who said: “We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused and hope all our grassroots football family stay safe and well during these uncertain times.”
All grassroots football has come to an end this season and steps three to seven have had their records expunged.
Many football clubs have used the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to keep their staff employed, including National League side Dover Athletic.
Bromley have done likewise but their chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves has said his club will do likewise but all players and staff will be paid 100% of their salaries and honour contractual agreement up to the end of May.
Those staying on at the Kent FA, along with the CEO, are his deputy Richard Judd, football development manager Lee Suter, finance officer Paula Lippett and Jordon Mann, their marketing and partnerships manager.
All other staff will be unavailable from the end of today but the county FA say “no member of staff will be financially disadvantaged during their period of furlough leave.”
They add: “Our workforce is supportive of this decision and look forward to returning to work at the earliest possible opportunity.”
