Carshalton v Maidstone
LLOYD HUME has asked for a repeat of his Maidstone side’s second half Boxing Day performance this weekend.
The Stones gave a distinctly Jekyll and Hyde display in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over East Thurrock at Bourne Park, falling behind to a scrappy early goal before playing some of their best football of the season to overpower the visitors.
Joint-manager Hume knows if his side can replicate their form after the break, they should have too much for Carshalton Athletic, who they travel to on Saturday. Carshalton are second bottom of the Ryman Premier, while the Stones have won their last two to move to ninth.
Hume said: “I’m confident that if we can perform like we did in the second half against East Thurrock, then we will beat Carshalton.
“But it will be tough. They may be in a false position because they haven’t played as many games, and their home form is good.
“It’s the away form that has let them down, and they will be scrapping for their lives.”
Defenders Errison Ahwan and Chris Smalling are doubts after coming off against East Thurrock. Sam Tydeman remains a week or two away.
