George Elokobi has vowed to get Maidstone scoring after three games without a goal.

The Stones have gone 275 minutes since finding the back of the net in a 2-1 home defeat by Truro City.

They’ve had successive goalless draws with Hampton & Richmond and Chippenham, followed by a 1-0 loss against Weston at the Gallagher Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.

Maidstone are also still to score in open play, with their only two goals scored by defenders Temi Eweka and Reiss Greenidge at corners.

The Stones visit relegated Boreham Wood on Saturday (3pm) and host Chelmsford on Tuesday (7.45pm).

And boss Elokobi is determined to get his team firing.

“There’s no lack of confidence,” he told Stones TV.

“I give the players freedom to go and express themselves, with the tactical principles, and for some reason [we’re not scoring].

“I have to find the right solution for it.

“But, at the same time, that’s our job to keep helping the group. We’ve brought them in, it’s our job to improve them and we will improve them.

“It’s important we don’t get too disheartened.

“It’s game five, nothing is won or lost at this stage of the season, but then we want to be winning our home games and we want to perform as a team.

“At the moment we’re performing as individuals, so we’ll find the right partnerships.”

Maidstone were the better side at Chippenham on Saturday, without taking their chances.

But they slipped to defeat against Weston after being caught out from a short corner midway through the second half.

The hosts were a man light at the time, with skipper Sam Corne off the pitch when Sam Avery struck.

Elokobi said: “I’m disappointed to lose another home game in front of our fans but again we have to look at why.

“We have to look at why we played as individuals, not as a team. We need to connect completely as a team.

“At the moment it’s not happening but that’s our job to to try and make sure we find the right partnerships throughout the pitch.

“It’s disappointing when we’ve done the analysis and shown the players what they’re going to be doing and the sort of restarts they have in terms of playing it short.

“I know we had a man less but it’s about making sure you stick with your man and make sure you win the first phase, the second phase and the third phase.

“We haven’t managed to do that on three occasions now, the goals we’ve conceded this season off restarts.

“We’ve got to be better than that and we will be better.”
