Maidstone United made it eight wins from nine games and continue to lead the way in Ryman League Premier Division after a thumping 4-0 win at Enfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Flisher put the Stones ahead inside 16 minutes, heading his third goal in as many games from a deflected cross from Dean Pooley but despite the visitors continuing to threaten, it was not until two minutes into the second-half that Matt Bodkin doubled the visitors’ advantage after being given the freedom of north London by the Enfield defence to push forward and fire past keeper Nathan McDonald.
James Rogers all-but-ended the game as a contest with a third five minutes later, turning in a cut-back from Frannie Collin, and Enfield’s task became even harder when Nathan Livings was shown a red card shortly before the hour mark after a nasty challenge on Jack Parkinson.
Chances came and went at both ends before the final goal arrived from Steve Watt 12 minutes from time, nodding into an empty net after McDonald had failed to claim a long-throw into the box from Flisher.
Jay Saunders’ side remained two points clear of rivals Margate, who won at AFC Hornchurch.
United are back in action at the Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday night when they entertain promotion-chasing Kingstonian.
