Summer signings Anthony Acheampong and Kevin Lokko have hit it off at the heart of Maidstone’s defence.
The pair are keeping last season’s player-of-the-year Jamie Coyle on the bench with their performances.
At 26, Acheampong is the senior partner and he’s tipping his 20-year-old team-mate to go a long way in the game.
Acheampong said: “I’ve got a massive respect for Lokko.
“I’ve said it since the first time I came here and saw him play, he’s got a great future ahead of him.
“He’s a wonderful player and when you play with good players, it’s easy to click and form a partnership.
“And also don’t forget Jamie Coyle’s there, keeping us on our toes, he’s one of the greatest players at this level."
Maidstone are off to Chester tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm), with Acheampong unfazed by the challenge.
He said: “They’re a former Football League club but it doesn’t mean anything to me.
“Players are players, we’re adapting well to this level, we’re learning every game and we’ll give them a good test.
“Do I worry about who I’m playing? Never. I don’t fear anyone. Ex-Football League, or whoever, we’re all in the same league now. You’re up against the man in front of you.”
