Maidstone United have first option on winger Kaiyne Woolery - if his move to Tamworth doesn't work out.
Teenager Woolery has left the Gallagher Stadium for full-time football with the Conference Premier Club.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "I'm disappointed to lose him but when you have these academy players, you can't put them on contract.
"He would have had a bigger role to play here next season but if a full-time club come in, there's nothing you can do.
"I think he's got a big future as a centre-forward.
"That's where I saw him playing because there aren't many quicker than him and he's physically strong.
"He's got a six-month deal at Tamworth and I hope he does well.
"But if it doesn't work out, we have first option on him."
Woolery made 32 appearances last season as United won promotion to the Ryman Premier League, scoring one goal.
Saunders is also keen to see how Alfie Pavey fares at Millwall.
The 17-year-old has moved to the Den on a two-year scholarship after scoring 125 goals for Maidstone's academy.
Saunders said: "Like Kaiyne, he's physically strong. He's always scored goals and it's a case of following that up.
"Some players make the step up comfortably and others struggle. He has something about him and I wish him all the best."
