Two goals each by Carrie Brogan and Maria Miles helped Maidstone Ladies trounce Gravesend 8-0 in the Kent Cup semi-finals on Sunday.

They led 5-0 at half-time, including a well taken penalty corner by Sue Leaning. Captain Lizzie Daniels, Emma Greenway and Katherine Waldrom completed the scoring as they booked their place in the May final.

However The Ladies face an uphill struggle to retain their place in Women's Conference East after a 3-0 home defeat against second placed Barnes the previous day.

They trailed 1-0 at half-time after conceding a penalty flick, and the South West London club added further goals, with a disputed open play goal and a well struck corner.

Maidstone's hopes of avoiding the drop now depend on beating Horsham and Sevenoaks in the next two weeks, both sides in the lower half of the table.
