Maidstone United sign former Gillingham forward Greg Cundle on loan from Ebbsfleet United

Maidstone have signed Greg Cundle on an initial one-month loan from Ebbsfleet.

They were in the market for attacking players after Jon Benton was recalled from a loan spell by parent club Solihull Moors and sold to Boreham Wood.

Manager George Elokobi said at the weekend Maidstone’s recruitment committee were working hard on new signings.

And their efforts have paid dividends with the arrival of Cundle, 27, from National League strugglers Fleet.

He’s available to make his debut in the Stones’ rearranged league game at Bath tonight.

The former Gillingham youngster is in his fifth season at Stonebridge Road.

He joined as a striker but found success out wide at left-wing-back under ex-boss Dennis Kutrieb, scoring 12 goals as Fleet won the National League South title in 2023.

Fleet have a large squad and Cundle follows the likes of Will Randall and Giles Phillips in dropping down a level on loan in a bid to play regular games.

Cundle, who made eight first-team appearances for Gillingham, has also played non-league football at East Grinstead, Tilbury, Margate, Billericay, Bishop’s Stortford and Kingstonian.
