Midfielder Simon Johnson has joined Maidstone United from National League South rivals Eastbourne Borough.

Johnson, 24, is Stones' fourth summer signing, following the arrival of defenders Manny Parry and Callum Driver and winger Mitchell Pinnock.

He spent more than six years in the first team at Boro after progressing through the youth ranks, playing for the Sussex club during their Conference Premier days.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "I am delighted to secure Simon's signature.

"He's got plenty of experience at Premier and South level and at 24 is still a good age.

"He was very keen to come here and as someone who can play across the midfield and as a wing-back, he gives me plenty of options."

New man Johnson decided the time was right for a new challenge.

He said: "I am looking forward to settling in to a new club with new ambitions."
