Maidstone have added to their ranks before the opening game of the National League South season.
They’ve signed attacking midfielder Jon Benton on loan from Midlands outfit Solihull Moors.
He could make his debut at St Albans this afternoon as Maidstone get their league campaign under way.
Benton, 23, started last season at Aveley and was part of the Millers side who won 1-0 at the Gallagher in September.
The former Southend youngster – who was at Roots Hall between the ages of nine and 21 – went on to join National League Moors on an 18-month deal.
Solihull reached the play-off and FA Trophy finals at Wembley, with Benton coming off the bench in both games.
He worked with Stones assistant manager Craig Fagan at Southend, who was instrumental in bringing him to the Gallagher.
“Craig was my 23s manager so I get on with him really well and he’s been on the phone with me last week trying to get me here,” Benton told Stones TV.
“He pitched it to me and I thought, ‘It’s a great club, why not?’”
Stones boss George Elokobi said earlier this week he was open to further signings.
