Maidstone United v Canvey Island

Maidstone United go into their opening Ryman League Premier Division home game of the season on a high after Saturday's fine 2-0 win at Heybridge Swifts.

Joint-bosses Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker's only absentee against Canvey will be striker Meshach Nugent who remains on the sidelines with a groin injury he sustained while still at former club Dulwich Hamlet earlier this month.

Canvey arrive at Bourne Park, Sittingbourne, for the 7.45pm kick-off on the back of a 4-2 home defeat by Horsham on the opening day.

New signings Ian Cox and Jay Saunders notched the goals in the season opener for the new-look Stones and they will be aiming to make it two wins out of two.

Hume said: "We were delighted with Saturday, the players did their jobs really, really well but I think we only played to 75 to 80 per cent of our potential.

"We have had Canvey watched and we know they will be well-organised like they were last year and they are quick."

He added: "It would ne nice to get a decent crowd in for the first home game and start off with a win for them."
