Maidstone progressed to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy after a fine display in Essex on Tuesday night.

After Saturday's 1-1 draw between the two sides at Bourne Park, United had a severely depleted squad but fringe players came into the side and did joint-bosses Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume proud.

Elliot Bradbrook tucked home United's first two minutes into injury time at the end of the first half and James Pinnock effectively sealed the win 10 minutes from time when he headed home unmarked after a short-corner.

The Urchins scored their only goal with one minute remaining to set up a tense finish but the visitors held on to secure £2,300 in prize money and a place in the next round.

The Stones now face a trip to British Gas Business Southern League Premier Division side Swindon Supermarine on Saturday, November 1.
