Maidstone top the National League South form guide ahead of their game at surprise strugglers Havant.
Second-placed Stones have won five and drawn one of their last six games to strengthen their grip on a play-off place.
Havant were among the pre-season promotion favourites but are third-bottom going into Maidstone’s visit on Saturday.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “I genuinely don’t know why Havant are struggling.
“You look at their squad and they have good players, they can beat anyone on their day. For whatever reason, it’s not happened for the them. It’s a strange one.”
Stones have no such worries after extending their unbeaten run at Bishop’s Stortford last weekend.
Their fortunes have turned since a run of four defeats at the end of last year. Goalscoring problems have eased – finding the net 11 times in their last six games – and they have conceded only five goals in 13 away games all season.
Saunders said: “It was doom and gloom after the four defeats. I said at the time about going on another run and we’ve managed to do that.
“We’re in good form and it’s important we pick up as many points as we can in February because we’ve got a lot of important games coming up in March with Tuesday nights at Weston and Oxford."
Dan Sweeney has recovered from illness, while Jay May is back in training after a kidney infection but won’t be fit for Havant.
