Molesey 1 Maidstone United 3
MAIDSTONE preserved their two-point lead at the top of Ryman League Division 1 South after a comfortable 3-1 victory at Molesey on Saturday.
The Stones were in front after just three minutes when a speculative through ball from Errison Ahwan was brilliantly lobbed by striker Mo Takaloo.
Takaloo made it 2-0 after only 17 minutes when he was first to react after Lynden Rowland's shot had been blocked.
The rest of the first half was uneventful and the opening half hour of the second period was equally bland until Nathan Paul sprinted past two defenders and squared the ball to Alex Tiesse, who astonishingly failed to score from two yards out.
However, Tiesse atoned for his miss just three minutes later when he twisted past three defenders and lashed in Maidstone's third.
Molesey pulled one back through Phil Ruggles but the Stones comfortably saw out the final 10 minutes.
