Maidstone have signed Andre Coker on a two-year deal from Crystal Palace.
The winger joined United on loan in January and revealed last month he would be leaving the Eagles at the end of the season.
He said he'd be interested in a permanent switch to the Gallagher and manager Jay Saunders has moved quickly to make it happen.
Saunders said: "He had interest elsewhere but realised it's a big year for him and he needs to play.
"Although he did well for us, if you look at it, because of injures he didn't play as many games as either of us would have liked.
"He needs to get 30 or 40 games under his belt and we've got him on a two-year deal as well.
"He had offers to go to a few league clubs but he wants to play and that's the only way he's going to learn.
"He does need to improve on things, he needs that end product and the only way he's going to do that is by playing proper football.
"If he goes to another pro club he could end up stuck in the under-23s or not really progressing.
"I think he looked at what we've done with players like Joe Pigott with regards to moving people on and he's realised it's a good place for him to develop."
