Maidstone have made another high-profile signing with the capture of ex-Wolves defender George Elokobi.
It's more good news for Stones fans who saw former Arsenal full-back Gavin Hoyte complete his move yesterday.
Elokobi was part of the Wolves side who won promotion to the Premier League under Mick McCarthy and scored in a 2-1 win over Manchester United in 2011.
The big centre-half, 33, played at the Gallagher for Aldershot on the final day of last season and has signed a one-year deal after leaving the Rec.
He said: "It feels brilliant to be here. It’s a good club – I played here at the end of last season, I enjoyed the atmosphere so I’m glad to be here.
"I spoke to Hakan Hayrettin (head coach) to find out what was in place here and what sort of club it was.
"Once we spoke about this, it was a project I wanted to be a part of.
"I come here with a lot of experience under my belt and I can assure everyone they’ve not experienced someone like me before!
"We’ve had our holidays and time off and now I’m looking forward to getting going."
Elokobi joined Wolves from Colchester in 2008, becoming a big crowd favourite as McCarthy’s men won the Championship title a year later.
He helped keep them in the top flight for three seasons, a thumping header in the win over United a highlight, while his six-year stay at Molineux ended in glory as Wolves, following back-to-back relegations, lifted the League 1 title in 2014.
The Cameroonian, who also had loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, joined Oldham after leaving Wolves.
That was followed by a second stint at Colchester and a move to Leyton Orient in 2017.
Injuries restricted his involvement at Brisbane Road but he was a regular at Aldershot after signing in February.
