Maidstone United have completed the signing of prolific teenager Jake Embery from Herne Bay.
The 19-year-old scored 49 goals in 85 appearances for Bay where his dad, John, is joint-manager alongside former Stones player Jermaine Darlington.
He's found the net regularly, despite's Bay struggles near the foot of Bostik South East, including four-goal hauls in wins against Ramsgate and Greenwich this season.
Stones head coach Hakan Hayrettin said: "He's scored bundles of goals and we've been tracking him before we came to this football club.
"It happened to be that he’s only down the road from us.
"A goalscorer’s a goalscorer.
"He’s got to step up now and score at this level and that’s what we’re hoping he’ll do.
"Is he going to be involved this season? I don’t know but he’s bright, he’s young, he’s hungry, he’s enthusiastic, he doesn’t mind who he plays against in training, he shows willing and he’s a good kid."
Maidstone made their move after Embery's contract at Bay was cancelled.
Bay were unhappy with the circumstances, releasing a statement on their website, but Hayrettin says there are no issues and the clubs will meet in a pre-season friendly.
He said: "We’ve said, and we will be talking to Herne Bay on the player’s request as well, that we’re going to be giving them a pre-season friendly.
"There’s no bad blood from our point of view and I don’t think there is from their point of view but obviously someone’s put something out there but we never initiated it.
"We knew he was on contract, we could have waited till the end of the season but he was given the freedom to do what he wanted and that’s when we acted. We never instigated it."
