Maidstone United have signed centre-half Kevin Lokko from relegated Welling.
Lokko, 20, has agreed a one-year deal at the Gallagher Stadium, with boss Jay Saunders surprised to land the former Norwich City and Colchester youngster.
Saunders said: "Kevin's someone we watched a few times last year and it was kind of a little bit out of the blue in that someone contacted us and said he might be leaving Welling.
"Obviously they've had a big clear-out and I think they're starting afresh but Kevin's someone they spoke very highly of and it was one of them I didn't think would be possible because I thought they would keep him."
Left-footed Lokko was an apprentice at Norwich before signing pro forms at Colchester.
Injury halted his progress with the U's so he dropped into the National League with Welling, playing almost 40 games last season.
Lokko said: "I'm a big lad, I like to head the ball, I work my socks off for 90 minutes and I'd like to think I'm decent on the ball as well.
"You'll definitely get to see a player who gives everything for the club."
