Maidstone United have signed former Southend midfielder Jack Paxman from Witham Town.
Paxman impressed as Witham earned a 1-1 draw at the Gallagher Stadium in February.
United boss Jay Saunders has been looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the March 31 transfer deadline - and youngster Paxman fits the bill.
Saunders said: "Jack's a very creative player who's been around Southend's first-team squad and can play anywhere in midfield.
"He's slightly different to what we've got and gives us another option.
"We're doing well at the moment but he adds competition and will keep everyone on their toes.
"I wanted to strengthen the squad with the deadline coming up and there might be another one or two. I want to make sure we have plenty of cover for the run-in.
"He was recommended to me last summer after leaving Southend but I felt we had enough midfielders and he went to Thurrock before joining Witham.
"He played very well at our place and all the reports we've had from Witham games have always picked him out.
"He's young as well and I've signed him with one eye on next season."
