Maidstone have signed striker Joe Pigott on loan from Cambridge until the end of the season.
The former Charlton youngster, who has also had a loan spell at Gillingham, could make his debut at Solihull Moors tomorrow, subject to FA approval.
Pigott, 23, joined the U’s following his release by Charlton last summer but has found opportunities limited at the Abbey Stadium, making five appearances.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: “Whenever I’ve seen Joe play he’s always looked a threat in front of goal.
"He’s probably someone that hasn’t had the run of games he’d have liked this season and hopefully we can give him that.
“We’ve got good competition now throughout the squad. He’s a quality player and he’s a Football League player and I expect him next season to be back playing in the Football League.
“But hopefully he can come in and help us until the end of the season and prove a good signing.”
Pigott was born in Maidstone and played youth football at Larkfield. As well as Gillingham, he’s also had loan spells at Newport, Southend and Luton.
He said: “Obviously I’m very excited, a bit relieved as well to be honest because it’s been in the pipeline for a couple of weeks now and it’s good to get it over the line. I’m just really looking forward to starting.”
Pigott became a hero at Southend when he equalised in added time of extra time in the League 2 play-off final against Wycombe at Wembley two years ago.
He also scored in the shoot-out as the Shrimpers won promotion to League 1.
