Trialist Harley Willard has earned himself a deal at Maidstone United.
The 19-year-old impressed manager Jay Saunders, who was also weighing up a move for Tyler Campbell.
But it's Willard who has got the nod and he will travel with Stones to France this weekend for their pre-season trip which includes a friendly against fourth-division Arras.
Willard joined Arsenal aged nine and stayed there until he was 15 before moving on to Southampton.
After four years with the Saints he's now signed a one-year deal at the Gallagher Stadium.
"I am delighted to get Harley on board for next season. He spent the early part of pre-season with the Gills and was recommended to us by Peter Taylor.
"He’s come in and done really well and his addition gives me options across the midfield.
"Despite his young age, he’s had an excellent grounding at Arsenal and Southampton and you can see that in his style of play."
Willard's arrival came on the same day Maidstone signed former Eastleigh midfielder Jai Reason.
