Three strikers are battling for two places ahead of Maidstone's Ryman League Premier Division game against Hornchurch.
New signing Billy Bricknell is in contention for a debut at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday (3pm) but has fit-again top scorer Frannie Collin and on-loan Dover man Nathan Elder as competition.
Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "I remember when we won promotion a couple of years ago and had five strikers.
"There's always going to be disappointed people when you're picking a team but you have to go with what you think is right.
"I like to play with two forwards but it's horses for courses really.
"I went with one up top at Canvey last weekend and we may have to do that in certain games but Saturday is a different kettle of fish because we're at home and I want two up front."
League leaders Maidstone put their unbeaten home record on the line against a Hornchurch side sitting third-bottom.
Saunders is puzzled by the Urchins' poor form having made the play-offs last year.
He said: "They've got a very good side. I still can't work out why they aren't having the best of times because they have players a lot of teams would take if they were available.
"It's one of them where they come here with nothing to lose and they're the worst teams to play."
