Maidstone sold their ticket allocation for the Ebbsfleet play-off final in just two hours.
Stones were given 750 standing tickets and 30 seats in the main stand for Saturday's National South final at Stonebridge Road.
With more than 1,000 season-ticket holders at the Gallagher alone, and average crowds of 2,300, lots of fans have missed out.
United appealed for more tickets but with capacity reduced to 3,800 due to building works, they were turned down.
Maidstone chief executive Bill Williams said: "We were allocated 150 tickets more than the league rule requires but are all too aware that there will be many disappointed fans who wanted to see this match.
"There wasn’t enough tickets to satisfy every season ticket holder, despite our best efforts to get more, and unfortunately we didn’t have an opportunity to sell to fan club members or offer a general sale."
United trained on Tuesday night as fans queued to buy tickets.
Manager Jay Saunders said: "I feel sorry for the supporters who travel home and away and can't get a ticket. I'm gutted for them but it's out of the club's hands."
Maidstone are now looking into the possibility of screening the game back at the Gallagher Stadium.
With support from Stones TV, the National League and Ebbsfleet, there will be a test broadcast on Thursday, with further announcements to follow.
