Beating Wrexham would be an even bigger achievement than toppling Stevenage.

That’s the view of Maidstone boss Jay Saunders, even though the Reds play a level below League 2 Boro in the Vanarama Conference.

Stones are 4/1 outsiders to pull off an FA Cup second-round upset at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday (5.30pm).

But they are driven on by the dream of facing a Premier League club in the next round.

Saunders said: “We’ve come this far and to think we’re one game away from the possibility of drawing a really big club is exciting.

“I just hope we go there and give a good account of ourselves.

“I’m actually expecting a harder game than Stevenage.

“It’s a long way to go, we’re staying overnight - something’s that new to a lot of the players - and it’s a different mindset.

“We’re underdogs but I’d like to think their manager, Kevin Wilkin, having watched the Stevenage replay, knows it won’t be an easy game.

“We’re at the stage now where we know the run is going to end sooner rather than later but I’d just love us to get through.

“It would be amazing for a club in the Ryman League to reach the third round but we know how hard it’s going to be."
