A devastating second-half performance saw leaders Maidstone shatter the final unbeaten record in the Ryman League Premier Division.
United's 4-1 victory over Kingstonian made it nine wins and one defeat from their opening 10 games and saw them maintain their two-point advantage over second-placed Margate.
All the goals came after the break with Ben Greenhalgh starting and completing the rout, with makeshift striker Alex Flisher and Frannie Collin on target in between.
Both sides impressed in the first half at the Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday night.
Jay Saunders' men made most of the early running, moving the ball quickly and showing imagination in attack, with Matt Bodkin's half-volley and Collin's fierce drive testing Kingstonian keeper Rob Tolfrey.
The visitors grew into the match with Daniel Sweeney hitting the bar from outside the box and seeing a second effort superbly saved by Lee Worgan.
But United finished the half strongly with Steve Watt forcing a mistake in the away defence and setting up Flisher whose fine strike across goal was kept out by Tolfrey.
Good work from Flisher led to United going in front on 49 minutes. Tolfrey saved again after a strong run but Greenhalgh finished the rebound.
Stones were in control all over the park and looked a threat every time they attacked.
It took a superb save to keep out Collin's thumping volley from Flisher's perfectly-flighted cross, then Greenhalgh was denied after a decent run.
United doubled their lead on 71 minutes with the first of three emphatic finishes, Flisher running on to Greenhalgh's through ball and crashing home with his right foot.
Flisher was withdrawn soon after and the first contribution of his replacement, Jay May, was to flick on a clearance from Worgan into Collin's path for Stones' third on 76 minutes.
Maidstone briefly switched off at the back as Andre McCollin pulled a goal back from Tommy Kavanagh's pass on 83 minutes.
But Stones added their fourth with a minute left as substitute Ashley Miller worked an opening for Greenhalgh whose strike was too hot to handle.
Maidstone: Worgan, Pooley, Mills, Watt, Miles, Rogers, Bodkin (Brown 79mins), Parkinson, Greenhalgh, Collin (Miller 82mins), Flisher (May 74mins). Subs not used: Phillips, Godmon.
Attendance: 1,646.
