Takaloo earns Stones crucial victory

Harrow Borough 0 Maidstone 1

Substitute Mo Takaloo was the hero as Maidstone took a vital three points from their Ryman League Premier Division trip to Harrow Borough on Saturday.

The only goal of the game came 15 minutes from time when a long ball into the box was turned goalwards by Mark Saunders and eventually backheeled home by Takaloo after an ugly scramble.

It was no more than the Stones deserved after a battling display led by Aaron Lacy and the hard-working Alex Tiesse.

However, the home side had two glorious chances to open the scoring in the second half.

First, Victor Asombang's effort beat the returning Pat Mullin but went inches wide of the upright before Zimzon Lelo shot horribly off target with just the keeper to beat.

It was only United's third clean sheet of the season but the gap between themselves and Folkestone and East Thurrock has widened after those two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Buzzlines Stadium.
