Leyton 0 Maidstone 1
MAIDSTONE recored an unconvincing 1-0 win over the Ryman League Premier Division's bottom side Leyton thanks to a Mo Takaloo penalty on Saturday.
The Stones enjoyed the bulk of the possession and created a number of first half chances with Takaloo coming closest to scoring when he hit the post with a free kick from the edge of the box. But frustratingly, United were held at half-time.
Two minutes into the second half, Conor Hagan burst into the penalty area and was fouled allowing Takaloo the chance to score from the spot. For the rest of the half the Stones failed to kill Leyton off.
Alex Tiesse was guilty of a shocking miss when he headed a perfect cross from Sam Tydeman straight at the Leyton keeper Sam Tanner and almost immediately the Stones were let off at the other end when Ray Freeman tangled with Marvin McCoy and the referee waved away a strong claim for a penalty.
United continued to create chances with Nick Hegley shooting over and Tiesse hitting the side netting but United were unable to increase their lead and were grateful for the final whistle.
