Bobby-Joe Taylor won’t celebrate if he scores for new club Aldershot against Maidstone.

Winger Taylor returns to the Gallagher tomorrow night (7.45pm) and is guaranteed a warm welcome.

He’s made a flying start to his Shots career, scoring in the 3-2 win over Torquay last week, but he’ll keep his emotions in check if he beats Stones keeper Lee Worgan.

Taylor, who left United after rejecting a new deal, said: “I don’t think I could celebrate if I score. I wouldn’t do that. I’d show respect if it happens.

“It’s going to be nice to come back.

“We haven’t parted on bad terms, the fans were good to me and the club were good.

“It’s a club I’ll hold close to me because we gained promotion and I enjoyed my time there but unfortunately it was time for me to move on.

“That’s football and people understand that.

“I still speak to a couple of the boys and it’s going to be nice to see some faces again but obviously I’ll be trying to get the win for Aldershot.”

Taylor was a big crowd favourite at the Gallagher - his wonder goal in the play-off final at Ebbsfleet saw to that - and he scored nine times last season to help keep Jay Saunders’ side in the National League.

He said: “I hope I get a good reception but let’s not say anything too soon because you never know.

“I did enjoy my time there and the fans have always been good to me, so hopefully I’ll get a good reception, whichever way the result goes.

“It’ll be good to play back at the Gallagher in front of a good set of fans.”

Taylor felt he couldn’t go full-time on the money on offer at Maidstone but got the deal he was looking for at Aldershot.

The Shots, under Gary Waddock, are going for promotion after missing out in the play-offs last season and have won their first three games.

Taylor said: “Everything was up in the air in the summer.

“I thought maybe I’d be staying at Maidstone and then I wasn’t able agree terms and I had to look elsewhere.

“I was surprised because quite a lot of options came up and this one fitted the bill with the manager and the way they play.

“The main aim was to go back into full-time football and coming down here gives me that opportunity."
