Johan ter Horst is ready to fire at Maidstone after a successful month on loan at former club Folkestone.
Ter Horst scored five goals in as many games for Invicta, the club where he made his name as a teenager before joining Hull City.
He returned with a slight knee injury, ruling him out of United’s Boxing Day game at Dover, but could be available at Aldershot on Saturday.
Ter Horst has scored only once for Maidstone, a classy solo effort at Hartlepool in September, but rediscovered his touch in familiar surroundings at Cheriton Road under Invicta boss Neil Cugley.
He said: “It was good to go back. To score five in five was good.
“It was the same old Cugs and the supporters were happy to see me – it’s always nice to feel loved.
“Unfortunately I had a bit of a knock so that hindered me because I missed a couple of games and played a couple on one leg but I did all right.
“I was pleased to score and find a bit of form and hopefully I can bring that back here because we’ve got a busy January.
“It’s been useful. It was nice to be back at a place I know and the manager knows me.
“I benefited and felt I got fitter, despite the injury. I enjoyed it and feel good for having been there.
“I need to stay fit but going on loan and scoring a couple of goals hasn’t harmed my chances here at all.
“There’s some good lads out there so I can’t have any complaints about why I haven’t been in the team."
