John Still said Maidstone’s win over Billericay was their best performance since he and Hakan Hayrettin took charge.
The Stones came from a goal down to win 2-1 and move up to eighth in National League South.
Hard work on the training ground is paying off for a United side who have lost just twice in 15 games in league and cup since starting the season with back-to-back defeats.
Head of football Still said: “That’s the best we’ve done.
“We’ve done a lot of work in the last few weeks on just moving the ball a bit quicker.
“That’s dominated our training, just moving the ball a little bit quicker, and I thought the first half we did that.
“The movement of the whole team was first-class and I thought we overran them, particularly going from a goal down.
“We stayed strong, we kept going, we stopped them playing out, which is what they wanted to do, we pressed them, we won the ball back high.
“Looking back to last season, we beat a very good Barnet side here, but that’s the best performance since we’ve been here because I thought for most of the game we dominated and we never really gave them a chance other than the goal they got.
“We’ve put on some sessions that are quite demanding, concentration-wise, not physically, and we’ve had to play in certain areas.
“We’ve coned areas off so we can try and get the passing crisper and the movement crisper and today, perfect.
“We have to maintain that but today I thought we were not just deserved winners, I thought we were very, very good.”
Leading scorer Matt McClure pulled a thigh muscle in the warm-up, meaning an unexpected start for transfer-listed Iffy Allen.
The ex-Braintree man made the most of his opportunity, producing his brightest display for the Stones.
Still said: “He did absolutely excellent, he really did, and he responded to not being involved. That’s all credit to him.”
Head coach Hayrettin added: “I’ve had Iffy before. I know what he can do but he needs to do it consistently.”
