Title race going down to the wire

Walton Casuals v Maidstone United

MAIDSTONE go into their final match of the season heading a three-way battle for automatic promotion.

The Stones, who currently top the Ryman League Division 1 South table, can clinch the title on Saturday with a win but anything less and they'll be looking at results elsewhere.

Tooting sit just a point below and Dover are three points adrift with an identical goal difference. Both sides will be praying on Maidstone slipping up during their trip to Walton Casuals.

Stones' joint manager Lloyd Hume knows his side should have sealed promotion long ago, but the club have managed just one win from their last five games.

Despite this indifferent form, Hume is confident they'll do the job and revel in the pressure.

Hume said: "With the position we were in six weeks ago, we should have had it wrapped up by now.

"Some people thrive on pressure and some don't and all the big games this season we've tended to win."
