MAIDSTONE United's season went from bad to worse at Cray on Tuesday night when they had two men sent off and crashed out of the Kent Senior Cup at the first hurdle, losing 2-1.

The Ryman League Premier Division side trailed to a 76th-minute goal by Tyrone Stirling and then saw player-coach Jimmy Strouts sent off for a second bookable offence. The 10 men won a penalty, which Alex Tiesse scored in the 89th-minute, but before the final whistle blew promising central defender James Peacock, one of several reserves in the Stones' line-up, was also shown a red card.

United have now ammassed five red cards since the opening day of the season, to go with the two they collected in a pre-season friendly at Fisher.

Cray were also reduced to 10 men, but their numerical superiority finally told two minutes from the end of extra time, when Junior Baker struck the winner.
