Vas Karagiannis is ready to show Maidstone fans why he’s so well suited to English football.
He’s likely to make his debut against one of his old clubs when Stones go to Hayes & Yeading in National League South on Saturday.
The Greek forward has moved to the Gallagher after scoring 13 goals in the Ryman League with Leatherhead this season.
He started out as a youth team player at Olympiacos before his family moved to France.
The United new boy was brought to England from FC Chambly by Welling almost two years ago.
Learning English along the way, he went on to join Leatherhead and found himself back with the Tanners after a brief spell with Hayes & Yeading last season.
English football suits his game and he hopes he’s the man to solve Maidstone’s goalscoring problems.
Karagiannis, 23, said: “They’ve had problems scoring goals and I’ve scored a few for Leatherhead. It was time for me to go to a higher level and for Maidstone to have someone who’s going to help the team.
“I’ve started the season well and want to carry it on here. I play left-wing and right-wing but if the manager wants to play me as a striker or a No.10, I’m happy. I score a lot of goals by getting in shooting positions."
The new signing knew Maidstone were the club for him as soon as he spoke with the manager.
Karagiannis said: “It’s nice to be wanted. A lot of people told me Jay was a good manager. It helped my decision because being with the right manager is important."
