Maria Heslop (Paddock Wood) moved to second in the British rankings with her victory in the Tonbridge half marathon on Sunday.
Heslop finished sixth overall in a field of 1,000 athletes in 1hr20min43sec to edge ahead of Paddock Wood team mate Tina Oldershaw in the over-45 list.
Heslop was three minutes clear of Clare Reeves (Bexley, 1.23.32) and Oldershaw (1.25.12) completed the rostrum under pressure from Alice Heather-Hayes (W35 Tunbridge Wells, 1.25.36).
The 2011 winner Tom Fewster (Tonbridge, 1.13.14) prevailed in a battle with defending champion Julian Rendall (Tonbridge, 1.13.21) in the men’s race.
David Ives (Sevenoaks, 1.16.40), Ben Cockburn (Blackheath, 1.18.29) and M40 master Craig Chapman (Tunbridge Wells, 1.19.38) were the only other men to stay ahead of the women’s winner. Trevor Edgely (Istead and Ifield, 1.30.20) put in a quick over-65 master’s time and Eric Schofield (Tunbridge Wells, 1.52.22) took his usual top spot in the M70 category.
