Tommy Warrilow is not getting carried away after Tonbridge’s first win of the season on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 2-1 success over Chelmsford at Longmead ended a run of three straight Skrill South defeats which plumbed new depths when Angels were beaten 5-1 at Bromley on Saturday.

Warrilow said: “I’ve already had a lot of feedback about my position. When you lose three games, what do you expect?

“When you get done 5-1 and it’s your third loss, there’s going to be negativity. We had a good pre-season but that doesn’t count for anything.

“We finished ninth in our first year (at this level) and everyone thought it would be easy. The second year proved that it’s not. I suppose supporters only care about us. But I’m not stupid, I know the teams we’re playing against are strong.”

Gary Elphick will miss Saturday’s trip to Havant & Waterlooville after being sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring injury. However, Warrilow is hoping fellow defender Jon Heath (hamstring) will be fit.

Tonbridge are in Kent Senior Cup action at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
