Jay Saunders has enjoyed so much success as a manager you sometimes forget just how good a player he was.
They say class is permanent and the former Margate, Ebbsfleet and Maidstone midfielder scored an amazing goal while coaching for Soccer Elite in the county town this week.
Jay Saunders scores a brilliant volley while coaching for Soccer Elite
In footage posted on Soccer Elite's Twitter and Facebook pages, the 40-year-old casually controls the ball with the inside of his right foot before unleashing a brilliant volley into the top corner from the edge of the area.
Saunders has been coaching for Soccer Elite since leaving Maidstone last season, where he won three promotions in four seasons and twice kept the club in the National League during a seven-year reign.
He combines coaching commitments with his current managerial job at Margate and with skill like that, the scholars are clearly in good hands.
Soccer Elite have forged a fine reputation in the coaching world, helping former Maidstone players Aaron Simpson, Kaiyne Woolery and Ellis Iandolo land Football League moves in the past few years.
