Maidstone led twice at Wealdstone on Saturday but had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Goals from Joe Healy and Callum Davies were cancelled out as United wound up with a point from an entertaining game against their old Ryman League rivals.
United were unchanged from the midweek win at Oxford, with Alex Flisher deemed fit enough to start a second game in five days and Healy recovering from the leg injury that forced him off on Tuesday.
Stones remain 10 points behind National South leaders Ebbsfleet who drew at Bath.
Maidstone took the lead on 12 minutes courtesy of Healy’s bullet header into the top corner from a deep Vas Karagiannis free-kick.
Bradley Hudson-Odoi dragged an effort wide of the far post following a strong run up the left as Wealdstone, who’d gone close through Scott Davies inside five minutes, threatened.
Midway through the half Lee Worgan made a key double save. Jefferson Louis made a mess of Davies’ cross at the near post but the ball eventually landed at the feet of Hudson-Odoi whose shot was brilliantly kept out by Worgan, along with the follow-up.
Stones missed a golden chance to go two up around the half-hour mark, Karagiannis clearing the bar after keeper James Bransgrove struggled to deal with a Flisher long throw.
Soon after, Flisher flashed a header wide from Karagiannis’ cross.
Wealdstone equalised on 34 minutes, a cross from the left volleyed home low by Matthew Harriott.
They weren’t level for long, Stones regaining the lead with the most simple of goals on 41 minutes, Flisher hurling in a long throw for Davies to head home his third in four games.
Veteran Louis had a penalty appeal waved away for Wealdstone early in the half - it looked optimistic - before Stones strung together some decent possession in the home half without an end product.
Having looked fairly comfortable, Jay Saunders’ side were pegged back after 56 minutes. Louis challenged for a high ball into the box and it dropped for Jonathan Wright who finished by the post.
Flisher grazed the outside of the post when through, then Healy headed wide at the near post as Maidstone went for a third in a lively game.
And as the action swung back up at the other end, Worgan made a flying one-handed save after Hudson-Odoi cut inside on his right foot.
There was a bit of needle as the half wore on, Callum Driver and Hudson-Odoi - who was booked - clashing by the touchline, with Dumaka and Harriott letting each other know they were there.
Desperate defending denied Healy at a goalmouth scramble with time running out, although Wealdstone always looked dangerous when they broke at pace.
