Welling's Vanarama Conferene survival hopes suffered a major setback when play-off chasing Eastleigh proved too good on Easter Monday.
The Wings were more than a match for Richard Hill's robust Eastleigh side but two clinical finishes proved the difference and leaves Welling still six points from safety with four games to play.
Welling's only saving grace is that their final two games are against the two teams immediately above them in the table but they need to close that gap and win at home for the first time since December if they are to have any chance in the in the final week of the season.
Eastleigh took a sixth-minute lead when Jai Reason headed in a right-wing cross and Jamie Turley headed against the crossbar minutes later as the Wings started slowly.
But Welling's Ross Lafayette and Tashan Adeyinka proved a threat upfront and slowly clawed their side back into the game. On-loan Lafayette in particular was the subject of some physical challenges but he got little protection from referee Richard Martin.
The pair combined just before the half-hour but Adeyinka's effort was turned behind for a corner from which Welling equalised. Ben Jefford's pinpoint delivery to the near post was headed in by on-loan Charlton defender Harry Osborne, who excelled throughout the afternoon.
Chances were few and far between for either side after the break and it looked like a draw would be the end result until 15 minutes from time when Turley cleverly created space and fired low beyond Jon Henly for the edge of the box.
