Manager Jay Saunders has warned Maidstone won’t get away with playing badly next season.
Stones reported back for training on Tuesday night ahead of their debut campaign in National League South.
Fixtures are released at 1pm today (Friday) but whoever United play on August 8, they won’t get an easy ride.
Boss Saunders said: “We need to be more professional next season.
“I’m not saying we weren’t last year but it’s a case of making sure everyone understands this league is going to be tougher.
“Since we’ve been at the Gallagher we’ve only lost five home games in three years. In general, we expect not to lose at home but we are going into a competitive league.
“If you played badly in the Ryman League you could still win but I don’t think that’s the case in National South. Better players will punish you and nine times out of 10 you’ll lose."
Stones want another look at a striker who attended a trials night on Monday.
He’s spent the last two seasons in Greece and has also played in America.
