Lee Worgan has found the switch to daytime training tough but says it’s the only way to go.
The Maidstone skipper has risen to the challenge of combining training with his coaching work and sports science degree.
He was feeling it early on but, at 33, he’s loving the chance to be in a full-time set-up in the National League.
Worgan said: “Personally, I’ve found the transition fairly tough in the first few weeks because you’re up, you’re training, and you’re going to work, so I’ve been a lot more tired in the evenings.
“It’s going to take me a few weeks to adjust to a new schedule but in terms of the actual set-up of it all, it’s fantastic.
“You get to do a lot more work, you feel fitter, you feel sharper and I think we’ll go a lot more prepared into games this season.
“It’s been different but it’s the step the club’s taken and it’s the only way if you want to go forward in this division.
“I’m doing a degree at the moment alongside working full-time at a school and with a coaching company but they’ve been fantastic.
“It’s made my days a lot longer but it’s brilliant for me at this stage of my career to be able to train every day and enjoy it and that’s what I’m going to do for the next few years.”
