The RSPCA is appealing for information after a sick and starving dog was found abandoned in Snodland.

The four-year-old boxer was found running loose at a disused water plant in Ham Hill on Monday evening by a walker who called the animal charity and took him to a nearby vet.

He was very thin, starving and thirsty. He also had a large, bloody wound on the back of his neck and an open, bleeding tumour on his rear.

Arriving at the vet, he scoffed two bowls of food and slurped two bowls of water before being scanned for a microchip - but none was found.

RSPCA inspector Rosie Russon said: “He was in a shocking condition. He was terribly thin and desperate for food and drink.

“He had an horrific tumour on his rear end and a nasty wound on his neck. It was clear neither had been treated.

“Sadly, the vet said the only option was to put him to sleep to end his suffering.

“I would urge anyone with any information about how this poor animal was left to suffer like this to come forward and let us know.

“He was a lovely dog and was very friendly. He had obviously been somebody’s pet but had just been cruelly dumped.”

The RSPCA is appealing for information to try to find the owner of the dog.

The boxer was brindle in colour, with a white chest, and dark muzzle and ears. He had not been castrated and had his tail docked.
