Sun broke through the clouds this morning as an Aylesford woman who died in a tragic three-vehicle crash was laid to rest.

The funeral of Aimee Williams, 30, took place at Vinters Crematorium earlier today with more than 250 guests paying their respects.

Ms Williams, a Maidstone hospital worker, died after her car was involved in a crash at around 11.30am on the A272 in Sussex on Monday, March 28.

The eulogy was given by family friend Frank Prescott before two poems - "She is Gone" and "Afterglow" - were read out.

Cher's song "Turn Back Time" was played out alongside "Sunshine" by Gabrielle and Sarah McLachlan's "In the Arms of an Angel".

Chatham and Aylesford MP Tracey Crouch, who knew Ms Williams' family, was in attendance and described it as a "beautiful and moving service".

She added: "As the committal took place, the sun broke through the clouds."

Following Ms Williams death, her family paid tribute, saying: "Aimee was a beautiful, happy, kind daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister and more recently devoted auntie.

"She had countless friends and work colleagues and touched the lives of many with her infectious smile and positive lust for life.

"Her tragic death has left a gaping hole in all our lives.

"We are grateful to all the first responders who attended the scene and tried to save her life.

"To lose your daughter in these circumstances is every parents' worst nightmare and our grief is unimaginable and unbearable.

"We would be grateful if people would respect our privacy at this difficult time."

Ms Williams leaves behind her father, Colin, who represents Aylesford South on Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, her mother, Wendy, and sister, Mollie.

Two other woman from Kent were hospitalised following the collision but have since been released and are making "good recoveries".

David Dawson, 83, from Worthing, was the second person to die in the fatal collision.

Paying tribute to him, his family said: “David was a much loved father to his two sons, grandfather to his four grandchildren, brother, and a popular friend to all those who knew him.

“He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

“A retired property manager, avid golfer at Worthing Golf Club, and a lifelong Sheffield United supporter, he was for many years a volunteer at the RNLI station in Littlehampton.

“He enjoyed sport and big band music, and was a listener and supporter of the Ronnie Smith Big Band.”
