Larkfield: Body discovered in search for missing pensioner Frank Gore

Police searching for a missing pensioner have discovered a body in woodland near Leybourne Lakes Country Park.

Frank Gore, 86, disappeared from his Larkfield home last week. He was last seen by a friend on Thursday, September 14 when he returned home to Lunsford Park from a hospital appointment in Maidstone.

Officers searching near the beauty spot made the discovery around 4.30pm yesterday.

Witnesses reported seeing forensic officers, fire engines and a private ambulance at Leybourne Lakes next to Castle Way yesterday afternoon.

They were reported to have remained late into the evening.

The body has not yet been formally identified but next of kin have been informed.

The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.
