Body pulled from Leybourne Lakes near Tesco in New Hythe, Aylesford

A body has been pulled from a lake this morning following what police have described as "inquiries to locate a missing person".

Police and paramedics have been at the lakes off Leybourne Way, New Hythe, near Aylesford, for most of this morning.

Rescue teams were deployed to the lakes, along with a helicopter and a search boat.

Behind a taped off cordon, police have raised a blue tent to cover the body.

One person, who asked to remain anonymous said: "I looked out my window and I could see what looked like a body floating in the water.

"Every one is shocked. It's not something you expect to see every day."

A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Officers are currently at Leybourne Lakes as part of our inquiries to locate a missing person."
