Handbags, clothing and keys stolen in spate of Leybourne burglaries

Leybourne residents are being warned to keep their homes secure after a series of burglaries.

Three overnight break-ins have happened so far this far month, with the latest coming in Roundhay last Thursday.

Officers were called to a house at around 3.50am, where a handbags and keys had been stolen.

The suspect was caught in the act by the occupants and was spotted wearing a hooded top before fleeing in a blue Ford Fiesta with a second man.

Earlier in the month police were called out to burglaries in Harvest Ridges and Willowmead.

Clothing and keys were stolen from a Harvest Ridge home between 11pm on August 12 and midday on August 13.

The following night, August 13 to 14, saw bags, a wallet and a purse stolen from a home in Willowmead.

Inspector Andy Gallon from the Community Safety Unit said: "Whilst we are investigating these incidents, I would urge all residents to remain vigilant and ensure your doors and windows are fully secured overnight. If you see somebody acting suspiciously in the area during the hours of darkness, call 999."
