Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council investigating after travellers set up camp in Oxley Shaw Lane, Leybourne

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council (TMBC) is investigating after reports of an encampment in Leybourne.

Travellers set up in Oxley Shaw Lane, on land opposite Leybourne Church of England Primary School.

It is understood that they moved on this morning.

A TMBC spokesman said: On hearing about the unauthorised encampment at Oxley Shaw Lane, Leybourne, we immediately dispatched an officer to assess the situation and carry out welfare checks.

"Our officer found the encampment was on private land, and he was informed by one of the members of the group that they would be moving on today."
