Dog dies in house fire in Douglas Road, Tonbridge

A dog was killed in a suspected arson attack this morning.

The blaze broke out in a house in Douglas Road, Tonbridge, just after 5am.

Three crews were called to the scene and spent just under an hour tackling the flames, with one man, aged in his early 20s, given oxygen therapy and taken to hospital.

The fire, the cause of which is not yet known, destroyed half the first floor of the house.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is believed to be suspicious and officers are conducting ongoing inquiries."
