The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found in such poor condition her fur had to be shaved off.

The Bichon Frise X, was found in Snodland by a member of the public and was taken straight to the Leybourne Animal Centre.

Dina - was found near Snodland Community Centre on Paddlesworth Road in Snodland (19097377)

Her fur was so matted that 250g - the same weight as a block of butter- had to be removed.

The dog, who has been named Dina, after gold medalist Dina Asher-Smith, was discovered near Snodland Community Centre, Paddlesworth Road.

She has a number of health issues including numerous lesions, an ear infection, dental disease and a heart murmur.

She is not microchipped but has been registered with the dog warden and on Pets Located in case someone is looking for her.

Angelina Allingham, deputy animal centre manager at RSPCA Leybourne said: “Dina is a really lovely dog, she just wanted fuss and attention as soon as she got here.

“We called her Dina after Dina Asher-Smith as she is our champion.

“She was so tolerant of being groomed and allowing us to help her, even though she must have been feeling really sore.

“She was in a really bad way though, her teeth are in poor condition and her fur was matted and smelly.

“Her behaviour makes us think she must have been owned at some point, although we don’t know how she could have been left in this state."

If you recognise her call the RSPCA's inspectorate appeals line on 0300 123 8018.
