Police appeal launched after crash on A228 Ashton Way

A lorry driver has been released while investigations continue into the death of a pedestrian.

Officers were called yesterday to a collision on the A228 Ashton Way at around 8.05am, at the junction for West Malling train station.

A 44-year-old man, from Dartford, was reported to have been using a pedestrian crossing when the collision took place.

An appeal has been launched for information about a fatal crash

Police and ambulance crews attended and the man was pronounced dead at scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the lorry, a 67-year-old man from West Malling, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released pending further investigation.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
